Video Screen Size [CLOSED]

August 2nd, 2016

Hi Guys,
Any chance you can help me with this one, hope you all understand what I am looking for as I am not technically minded.
I have been downloading video files from Youtube when I play these on my TV i have 2 options, actual or full screen size the actual is great but very small the full screen is watchable but grainy, is there anything I can do to increase the video file to balance between the full and actual size?
Many Thanks (would appreciate answer in a novice language please)

Judging by your description, It’s pretty obvious that the particular videos are of poor quality!
Nothing you can do about that. What you should do is stick to HD videos (1080p or 720p) then it’d look good on your TV.
Not sure what method you use to download Youtube videos, But I recommend you use Internet Download Manager.
If a video has multiple streams (I.E 360p/480p/720p) it’d let you choose which one to download.

Thanks for the response appreciated. I manage to get a balanced picture quality of I reduce the screen size from between full to actual on VLC, looks like I will just have to make do with the quality I download. Thanks Again.

It sounds like you’ve downloaded the default 320 x or 640 x size from youtube.
The quick answer is no, nothing can be done with them – there are Avisynth scripts that can rescale, smart sharpen, deblock, etc, but it’s just not worth the time doing it unless it THE ONLY video of your long-lost grandfather who willed you 10 000 000 and you just want to remember him.
You might have reasonable results with a media player that lets you chose a % increase – set it to 200%, twice size, and you’ll have a balance of watchable size and lower artefacts.
In essence, Roberto Is right – use the quality button to change to a higher resolution and then download it with IDM (sometimes IDM doesn’t always see the other resolutions until you manually select from the “quality” list.
