Depends on what movies your downloading. Quality / File Size etc.
If you go for standard movies. I’d say probably over 400. If that’s all your using it for.

You bought a 500 GB external hard drive, James. Good for you. I was starting to miss your posts.
If you want to save 700MB BRRips/DVDRips then you can save more than 700 of them in your new external hard drive.
Answer #7
Does it play Bluray type files or no?

With the rate that I’m going right now with my own external hard drive, it’s about 300 movies with variety of types and sizes!

Moved from Off-Topic to Helpdesk.
Answer #14
As long as you use a decent media player like VLC player you shouls be able to play avi, vob, mkv ect ..file types this should include Blu Ray rips.If you dont want to use that media player you might need to use a codec pack like k-lite mega codec pack then windows media player should be fine for blu ray rips.
Answer #15
Don’t forget, a 500GB drive is not 500GB, lol, it’s only about 465GB when it’s formatted.
Answer #16
Where can I buy cheap external hard drives under 50 bucks?
Answer #17
so let see
1024mb per GB 1024 x 500Gb = 512,000 MB
an average movie is about 700MB
so
512,000 / 700mb = 731.
so i say about 500-731 movies!
