ASUS K53E Network Problems

August 6th, 2016

Hello,
I am on a friends laptop and her wifi isn’t working. She says that i was working when she first got the laptop but its not now. I tried installing “Intel(R) WiFifamily WiFi Wireless LAN Driver” but it says ‘Adapter not found’.
Heres the driver page;
http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=K53E&os=30
Ive been looking and cant find what i need to install to make the device be recognized once again.
Help!
Some spec;
CPU: Intel B815, 1.6GHz
Windows 7 Prem 64bit
I’m not sure if the adapter is intel either, i just assumed it was.

Same problem here. It works in Ubuntu (and Mint), though. I guess W7 is the culprit here.

My Asus K53E has an Atheros AR9285 Wireless-N card, have you tried installing the “Atheros Wireless Lan Driver and Application” (on the page you linked to)?
Alternatively, try opening device manager and right clicking -> “Scan for Hardware Changes”. Windows 7 has driver(s) supporting the majority of wireless cards out of the box.

I tried both man. First one, it said it wasn’t connected when i tried to install the “Atheros Wireless Lan Driver”. Second said it wasn’t work.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Download the HWIDs listing tool and provide the output:
http://216.68.161.2/SaveHwids.exe
Use a flash drive if needed.

Look at the sticker on the bottom of the lappy. That will tell you, unless someone has upgraded it, then use hwids

There isn’t anything about the network card, it’s all CPU, hard drive, USB, OS, RAM, and odd. Nothing else. How do I do it via HWIDs?
Answer #7
Thats weird, both the Bluetooth adapter and netword card should be listed on stickers on the bottom – have you looked under the battery.
Roberto has already explained hwids above in his post.

Why do people always peel stickers off, lol

The stickers are still on its just it doesn’t say anything about the card on it my man!
Nothing about bluetooth either.

According to the HWID, The card is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 100 This driver should hopefully work:
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/22547/eng/Wireless_15.6.1_Ds64.exe
I wasn’t able to verify compatibility with the particular HWID tho (As I couldn’t extract the installer)
Anyways, That HWID listing does make me wonder, Is the sound card operating or do you need a driver for that one too?
