Network problems

February 2nd, 2020

hey.
I got a network with 2 computers, and on of them got vista, and the other got XP.
From the computer, which has vista os, I can enter the other computer without any problems, but when I try to enter from the computer with the xp os, I can only see the hard drivers, yet I can’t access them.
I’ve configured anything needed in order to get full access, but it didn’t help.
any suggestions? Thanks

Answer #1
did you enable sharing? Right click on drive>>properties>sharing tab and have the 2 boxes checked

common issue between vista and XP networking… I also have this problem, but I find that every now and then they can access the computer.. and when they can i make a shortcut on the xp to the vista computer and now it works.
Hope that helps

Had a similar problem recently. I’m guessing you want to access the shares without entering a password. To do this go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy and Enable the option Network Access – Allow anonymous users be part of the everyone group.
Nest go to the users part of control panel and enable the Guest account. Then go to the network and sharing and disable password protected sharing but do enable sharing. Finally go to the shared drive or folder and share it and make sure under permissions you add everyone and it should work. If it still doesn’t work try turning off the firewall just to make sure that’s not blocking it.

hey, .
I tried doing what you said, yet when i try to connect from the computer with the xp os it says i don’t have a permission to access the other computer.
I also tried installing LLTD, which i tought would help, as I searched google, and saw a suggestion to install it to make the network work, but it didnt help.
Answer #5
Enable passwords on the user accounts.
It is the only way.
That way windows will ask you for user verification of the machine you are connecting to. Always works for me.
Answer #6
Where is this option? in the user accounts or networks?
Answer #7
user accounts…
