XBOX Update for Kinect?

February 1st, 2020

Hi guys,
Im not a techie or anything so i really do not understand, firmwares, drive lite-ons etc…
I have had my xbox drive flashed (dont know what drive it is!), but until recently I used to extract, run through xbox backup creator and abgx and burn with imgburn and it worked great…
Until I did it with halo reach and spiderman shattered dimensions, it wouldnt work… I researched online and found a programme called PPF – OMATIC..
This programme worked wonders, and can play any game now, incl COD Black Ops, without any issue. I extract, run iso through PPF OMATIC, apply its patch and burn, simple…
Will the Kinect ask me to connect to XBL and update?
Do i need to get the thing reflashed?
PS I dont care about playing online..
Thanks

No

If you can play Fable 3 then you’re not on the latest dashboard version so yes, you will have to update to the latest dashboard version to be able to use Kinect. Now, updating to the latest dashboard will enable the new ap25 checks and will make new games (only Fable 3 so far, but also most of the other games coming out from now on) not boot and flag your console for a ban (considering you can’t run new games you’re not on the latest firmware either so if you go on live you’ll probably get banned any way). You will have to reflash your console once TeamJungle releases LT+ firmware to be able to play new games on the new dashboard

yeh but i have no intentions of going on live – i never play online
havent tried fable 3 but i think i might, i mean COD BO works fine..
Answer #4
Black Ops doesn’t have ap25 enabled, it doesn’t matter if you want to go on live or not, newer games will not work on the new dashboard and once they include the dash update on each game disc there won’t be any flashed xboxes able to boot games unless LT+ has already been released by then

Moved from Off-Topic to Helpdesk.

Well Kinect will require a dashboard update, either way, if your playing even newer games, those will force you to update the dashboard.
Yep, and the Fall 2010 dashboard will have custom firmware blacklisting, so a load of 360’s will have to eat more dust for awhile.
Unlike PSP/ Xbox 360 Jtag or even PS3, we won’t have disks that have updates removed.

I’m wouldn’t be worried though, LT+ should be coming out soon, c4eva already got pass the ap25 checks, it’s just a matter of more testing now

Does that mean i will have to get a new drive?
main question – does it involve soldering/any complicated stuff/purchasing anythin?

If your on older firmware (except LT series), you can directly flash into the future firmware without hard modding. I heard that AP2.5 can be bypassed via a disk swap.
First you must install the game to HDD, insert the backup, wait for it to display in menu and hold down controller sync button on the Xbox 360 for 5 seconds.
You then can swap it for a retail game and it will pass the checks.
Rather put us in stone age.

Hi when you say ”directly flash into the future firmware without hard modding”… does that mean i need a wire or something from my pc to my drive, or do i need to do anything messy (pardon my ignorance, like i say im no techie!)
thanks again chap

I would advise against trying to flash it yourself if you don’t have the least knowledge about it, which seems to be the case, no offence :p
If you do however, he meant that on all custom firmwares except LT you can obtain the drive key without having to use third party hardware accessories such as Xecuter CK3. What you will have to do is open the case, plug the Xbox DVD drive into your PC with a sata cable and flash it using JungleFlasher

no offence taken
I would rather not mess around with it, and the only person I know who can do it is around an hour or so away from me and the bloody cheeky pikey charges like 40 a pop!

Well then there’s no reason to update just yet, check out TeamJungle’s Twitter for updates, they usually announce newly released firmware there first

ok some mixed views here
i need to update dashboard for kinect, that i know is a must,
but can i still play new games (fable 3 and newer games, ie kinect games etc) on the new updated dashboard without spending money with a guy to reflash my drive? or is that something i will have to do!?
once again, i do not wish to play online XBL
Answer #15
the short answer is NO, you cannot.
once you update the dashboard to newest, you will not be able to play the new AP2.5 games using burned “backup” disks.
Answer #16
Currently if you want to play newer games that has AP2.5, you need a new firmware and the Stealth chip.
