Xbox 360

September 3rd, 2013

Hi
i have an original xbox 360 from near enough launch. It was flashed maybe 1.5-2 years ago i think to 1.51 ixtreme but not entirely sure. It is a hitachi drive.
my question is must it be upgraded for it to play the latest games? (it was kept in a box for a long long time now)
i recently just got it out as i wanted to get a kinect.
any info would be great. Also what dashboard should it be on? i havent received any ban so far but have never played online (even when it was used) with a backup game, only been online with a real hard copy.
thanks

the old f/w u have will most likely u get flagged for a ban if u try and connect to live and update, i woudl suggest flashing back to stock f/w and then update to the lastest dashboard via xbox live or usb, if u want to play latest games.
Certain hitatchi drives v32, 36,40, 46, 47,58, and 59 arnt ap2.5 capable so u dont have to worry about new security the other two hitatchi drives 78/79 are ap2.5 capable and the new f/w for this drive isnt out yet while the other hitatchi drives dont require the new f/w as they are not ap2.5 capabale.
I would open your xbox and check what drive model u have and decide from there if u can update to play the latest games.
