Windows 8 Backup

August 1st, 2016

Hi! I just bought a laptop with Windows 8 and I made a clean back up of the entire laptop as soon as i got it running. The backup was about 33gb and it is was a bios or image.
Now can i use the backup i made and install it on another non Windows 8 machine? Would that enable me to use all of the features of windows 8 and is it leagle?

No, image backups are for your specific machine and cannot be used on a different PC. Also,

Answer #2
That is not necessarily true. Since vista, you can pull an hdd out of once PC, throw it in a different one, and it should install the hardware drivers during boot. I have made an image on one PC, that I blew out on a few different PCs at one point, never had an issue.
