Windows 7 64bit

August 5th, 2016

i currently have 2 gigs of ram but im getting at least another 2gig stick and im not sure on a third. i know that 64 is useless without 4+ram but what i was wondering is if it was worth it? what bugs me is the compatibility issues. i use my pc for mostly gaming. new (dead rising2) and old (alice) games and emus. also xbmc. is it a good idea to jump?

I can’t seem to understand you properly!
You want to go for 4gb of ram, then upgrade to 64bit !?
Well, if thats the case, that is a good idea..
If you are afraid whether your games r going to work, you shouldn’t, cause win7 has a compatibility option, which will allow you to run different applications in different compatibilites (for ex, you can run Dead Rising2, like you are using WIN XP SP3, etc..)
You really shouldn’t face problems on that, at least not that much as you are fearing
Answer #2
doesn’t compatibility mode just use previous windows? would windows 7 32 fall under that? basically all i want to know is if my library (200 pc games ranging from 1998-now) and emus (snes,psx2, dolphin) will work on 64 likes it does in 32 (currently using)
Answer #3
If it does on 32, then it 90% will do in 64 too
I’m not sure about those old games, but the new ones, will 10000% run without a problem, even better
ps; you can get back to 32 if you face problems.. but I really think that won’t happen, I mean it

I’ve not had any problems with compatibility on x64…
The days of 64bit XP are long gone! 64bit is the way to go for sure, 4gb RAM is pretty much standard now and the compatibility in win7 is good

I second that, I hardly seen any compatibility bugs.

I’ve had one compatibility issue with Win 7 x64. This was at beginning of year and the game was Madden 08. I couldn’t for the life of me not get it installed. Always came up saying I had to update DirectX 9. But with all other games I had no issues what-so-ever including Deus Ex.
As for playing emus, you shouldn’t have any problems. I have many emulators on Win 7 x64 (Amiga, C64, S/NES, Sega Genesis/CD, PSX/2, Gameboy Color/Advance, NDS) and have had no problems at all.
Switch to x64, its worth it
Answer #8
Windows 7 x64 is better, faster and stabile Os than X86
Answer #9
The only x64 os that had problems was windows xp x64. it was a nightmare trying to get anything working under that particular os. since then the x64 os has come on a long way. haven’t had any problems vista or 7 x64. also you do not need 4gb ram to get x64 working. x64 doesn’t have 3gb limit like x86 os’s.
