August 22nd, 2013

Yeah, just bought my uncle’s pc.. Just wondering, will a PCI 3 card (like hd 7670) work on PCI 2 / 2.1 slot? (my mobo is DH55TC)
Answer #1
Yes.
Answer #2
Yes it works fine. All PCI-E x16 cards work in all PCI-E x16 slots, regardless of version number. It’s all backwards compatible.
Answer #3
If by PCI you mean a PCI-E (Express slot) then yes. They are all backwards compatible.
A PCI-E card can not work in a PCI slot
Answer #4
Yes works but dnt be confused PCI or PCI-E slot. PCI slot use for other purpose like internal modem, Lan Card. If you Have PCI E slot then Works PCI 3 card. (x16)

I had a asus board with pci e 16x 1.6v and it did not suport my n9800gt pci e 16x 2.0v And i was forced to buy a new mobo that suports v2.0 pci e 16x. So i am not sure…..

Damn! I wanted to be absolutely sure, because i got in contact with a pc reviewer, and he will be buying an hd7670.. he told that he will freely exchange my hd5670 with his hd7670 after his review is done {got link from facebook}
Doin this because COD MW3 and BF3 lag a lot..

Maybe i was mistaken of the precise version of the pci.
Anyway i am refering to the Pci Graphic port and on that old asus board i belive it vas 1.6 or something just not 2.0. And i had to change my board because my n9800gt wouldnt work on it.
But dont listent to me….. Im just teling you what i expirenced. Maybe the poster wont have thath kind of trouble whit a 3.0 card on a 2.0 board. I would get that card and go from there….. In the worst case you will need to sell your board and buy a pci 3.0 compliant one.
