PCI Express Slot

August 1st, 2016

I have a Dell XPS 400 desktop computer and I got a new PNY 9800GT 1024mb PCI Express X16 video card and put it in the computer.
When I booted the computer, it bring up the video card information on the monitor but thats as far as it goes.
The only thing I can think of is that I do not have the right PCI slot. Does anyone know how I can check what kind of PCI slot I have on the motherboard?

Answer #1
it could be that or your power supply isnt big enough. What size is your power supply? you could use a program to run a full report on your motherboard to find out what kind of pci slots you have
Answer #2
X16 Slot will be a different colour ether black or blue.

You connected the 6pin/8pin connectors?

You need to get a better power supply. Some googling tells me you need at least a 400w PSU and your computer currently has 375w PSU (from stock specs)
Answer #4
did you go into the bios and disable the onboard video, if any
or set video to “PEG” if it has that option in the bios
