Netbook wont boot.can i get a hard disc erases from boot up?
August 2nd, 2013
I’vce een playign around with my netbook, moving around partitions and os’s.
it wont boot up anymore
on any system.
is there any software that can force format my hard drive from the boot up screen?
then i can do a fresh install
at the moment,m it wont even let me do a fresh install.
thanks
funnily enough i had similar problem couple of days ago, cured it by booting to mini xp on hirens cd and wiped partitions and formatted
then installed windows 7
Is your OS partition marked as “active” ?
Use a boot cd ISO such as Acronis Disk Director – and stick it on a flash drive and make it bootable to check.
ive no idea what its marked as.. i cant get past the boot up screen
ok
i’ll report back when ive tried a few things
thanks
Update.
with acronis, I wiped the linux partitions clean, and made my windows 7 my active drive.
then tried to install ubuntu, it was going to install..
but i didnt wan tit to, was just testing.
I have a fully working windows xp and windows 7 on there that i dont want to have to re-install again.
i managed to run the windows 7 boto repair option..
but i still get the linux style ‘grub’ error
not sure what dop do from here
id rather not use hirens, if it means wiping my os’s
seeing as ubuntu seemed to want to install..
i will try the other method..
isntall the two linux os’s i want, and see if they fix the boot up issue.
may work.
nope..
im not getting any partitions appear when i try to install linux
so its only askign to dlete the whole drive.
im juat about out of ideas
may have to do a full re-install… dammit.. lol
