Computer wont boot from cd

October 15th, 2013

I can’t install windows. I downloaded Windows XP Dark edition and burnt it on a dvd. Then i set up dios to boot from cd. When i turn on the computer, it says press enter to boot from cd. But when i press enter or any other key, nothing happens and the computer just boots like normal.
I tried it on another computer and the cd was working fine. So it’s not the cd. it has to be the computer. How do i fix it?

Answer #1
Probably keyboard failure, try a different keyboard.

if you have multiple disk drives…make sure to set priority to the cd drive with the disc in it.
I had to do that once…hope it helps
you said you tried the disc on another computer…did you try booting from it, so you know that it is in fact burned as bootable disc?

Try a PS/2 keyboard. Often wireless/bluetooth and USB keyboards fail on boot – and work just fine in Windows..
