Movie file formats .mkv and .rmvb?

Hey! Noticed a lotta movies (Manga) I try and DL are in .mkv and. .rmvb format. I was just wondering what these file types play on and how they compare to .avi files.
Anyone?

1st u need the codecs.
1) combined community codec . [MKV] — [ GOM player will play without the codecs ]
2)Real alternate codec . [RMVB]
then play Mkv files with zoom player and rmv files with real player.

well u basically got ur ans for how to play em (though i would go for Zoom Player + CCCP personally)
but RMVB and MKV are pretty good formats for there filesize
however if you have the bandwidth and HDD space i highly suggest going for the .AVI instead as the quality is better

.mkv is better for HD movies, except the 300MB movies, only HD movies are uploaded in mkv format, but there are a few 700mb mkv versions

windows media player classic will play both of them

VLC Player for almost all formats you find on teh internets it will play em. Real Media Player for .rmvb formats.
For burning them to DVD to play on DVD player use ConverXtoDVD.

Usually these files has low quality because its compressed,but because of anime series have a lot episodes its more useful to upload it in one file(mkv,rmvb<100mb=1 RS link download ).i suggest u to watch them with GOM player as it plays them all and usually VLC has problems with .mkv mostly.here is a link to download it….
