Limiting the download speed of Internet

Alright! The case is that i’ have 4mb DSL connection which
i am sharing it with my neighbour through a lan wire plugged into my modem
The problem is that i want each of us to use limited speed
if the complete download speed is 400kbps.. I want both of us use restricted 200Kbps
How can it be possible.. is there any software to restrict the speed.

Well you could do a software type or hardware based.
Software based requires you to be able to install a program on your neighour’s computer and your computer. (Like a internet cafe program).
Hardware based is through one of those expensive routers. Though I never tried them.

i believe you can use a modem settings to fix that, or you can try a program called bandwith controller google it. I think its in cnet dls

Advance routers (such as “Gaming” routers) have dedicated hard-ware controlled settings… ITs quite useless imo.

I would go for the software way, since both you and your neighbor would have to buy a router… (They get quite expensive…)

Internet Download Manager has a user defined speed limiter function, you could try that and it`ll limit your download speed to what you wish.

They can if they both use the program on their individual computers.

netlimiter … great tool, can adjust every pc’s internet speed but can keep up the local network speed if you want ..

His comp is connected into my modem [Linksys] by this wire (CAT-6)

Tell me how to add his computer into connections list and control his download speed (@hole is leeching all my speed )

Get a router which supports bandwidth throttling and put a password on the router.
