iphone 4 problem

i have some problem white my iphone i have very very long text messege and when i want open the messeges the iphone do to me like the messege is open but i have white screen and the iphone come to main screen and i cannot open another messges becouse i dont can open the text massges ..
what i can do ??
if i can in some way delete only this messsege thanks again …

When the iPhone crashes, locks up in a way that prevents it from being turned off, or just isn’t working as it should
Begin by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the Home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power-off slider appears. If it appears, just keep holding it.
Wait until the silver Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go – the iPhone is rebooting.
An iPhone reset or reboot should not normally remove or delete any data or settings. if it removes all data then must take backup and restore it after resest.
