IPhone 2G Problem

Hey there, i saw you were a iPhone tech so i thought of asking you..
So, i got this iPhone 2G from a friend and its only showing the Apple Logo on it.
I installed iTunes and updated the iPhone with 3.1.3 Firmware. But, now i cant turn it off, as soon as i turn it off it starts again and shows the iTunes logo with a USB Cable, ive tried to update the firmware many times now, but it dosent seem to turn off..
It was also restarting before i updated the firmware
