Installing a Screensaver

September 27th, 2013

How do I install a screensaver.exe file permanently into my system. Right now, the screensavers only a .exe file without an installer.
So, after I changed to another screensaver in the pull down menu on the Desktop , the current one will disappear, as it was NOT properly installed.

wo_Ot? replied: .EXE = Installerst of the screensavers at this site

comes with a downloadable .exe and when I double click it, it does install but if I changed to another screeaver in the pull down Menu in the screensaver selection, it simply disappears?

Answer #3
be warned that lots of screensavers & themes that have EXE installers can also contain malware
install 7zip and see if the EXE will open like a SFX archive where you can extract the .SCR file
then put that file in windows\system32 folder and it should show in your list

Problem Solved
The screensavers which are in .exe , actually is installer, but it just did NOT indicate where the programs are installed, I looked in Program {X86} , found out where they are located, and then copied the ,scr files into system52, and now, I have te entries of the choices of screensavers in my Screensaver Pull down Menu.
Thanks.
