How to trace a stolen laptop
February 5th, 2020
Installed XP OS
Manually configured proxy and ip on the browsers, mozilla and opera.
Also i connected it already on my home internet.
A bluetooth driver configured to connect it on my computer at home.
If anyone know how can i trace it using the given info above please help me
dont think you can im afraid.
oh no. I badly need to get my laptop back, i knew that the guy who stole it is also inside our village.
unless you know where it was stolen from. like a shop or something maybe you could tell them the situation and see if they can see anything on the CCTV.
If you know the mac adress of the wireless card, you can ask your isp to trace it.
Yeah, i have the mac address. Is it really possible to trace it having the mac address alone?

Yes but you need to prove it’s your laptop, and your isp must want to do it.
Forget about tracking a stolen laptop over the Internet using a .mac address. Tracking a stolen laptop using a .mac address is not possible over the World Wide Web. This second-level information is not passed through the router to the third-level ISP (Internet service provider).

Yeah, I’m aware of that. I know that mac address can be changed anytime. I think it’s time to say goodbye with my laptop

like i said, your best bet is if you know where it was stolen from and seeing if they can check CCTV, then you can find the culprit. Other then that im kind of out of ideas.

If you use something like Facebook, if it loads with the browser, wait until they log on, then when they’re on, see if you can borrow a friends account to trace where yours is being accessed from. I don’t know exactly how to do this, and Facebook was an example. But you might be able to trace and track where it’s coming from like that.

FB thing wl not help in this case.
FB works like suppose if you knw my password and trying to access, FB detects this is from different ISP ( country ) and ask for some authentication like Showing frends pics and u have select the person correctly , sometimes wl ask for Date of birth etc.
Then When I login back, FB throws a msg, yr account is been accessed by this country, was that you ? The image wl be something like speedtest dot net thing.
Which is practically useless.
: I’m afraid, you have to move on

Gmail logs the last place you logged in from. You can trace the IP if they try to open your email. Wait a week and then check the IP.

Where was the laptop when it was stolen and where were you?
Does it have any stored passwords on it of instant messengers
or websites you frequently visit?
Answer #15
i guess the only way to get my laptop back now is to wait until the guy return it to me

Dream on! You need a reality check,Seriously It was stolen not borrowed! If you really wanna get it back
then report it to the police,Then if there’s any CCTVs (security cams)
on the place it was stolen from or near by they’ll get the footage and
figure out who did it.
