How to access another windows file from current windows.

Guys I really need help. Three days back my hard drive crashed due to some corruption most probably in another sector(not the c sector . My PC experienced power cuts for the past few months so I guess that is the reason. Luckily I had a backup hard drive with OS installed. Right now I’m trying to access my documents folder and the other contends in the C drive on my old hard disk. There are some files I REALLY need to get back. I can other access all the other partitions except C sector. The OS that I used was Windows XP Pro (Tiny XP Rev 09) and my current hard drive has the same OS.
One of my friends said there is a way to access those files using some data recovery tool, but he can’t remember. Can someone plz tell me what that program is? Is there any other option?

Best is to fix the bad sectors in your HD…Then you will have no problem accessing any part of the HD..
Hiren’s BootCD > Hard Disk Tools > HDD Regenerator

I’ve pretty much done every thing to fix the file system. The file system is accessible but locked. I’ve given up all hope on restoring the OS. I just need those files back. I’ll give a try with Hiren’s Boot CD.
