DVD Problems

I just installed Windows XP Essential 2 on my computer (note: I have used it on other computers without this problem)
I am unable to watch DVDs I get a black screen and audio only. I was able to watch DVDs previously when I had a 2003 release of XP Home Edition installed.
I have tried a few different DVD softwares and I get the same problem with all of them.

Install a good codec pack. I would recommend K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. You can get it here:

Windows Essential comes with the K-Lite Codec pack installed but I can see if it needs updating…

also try VLC media player, doesn’t need codecs and runs well

updated my K-Lite Codec Pack and installed VLC Media Player

if the codecs don’t help you try cyberlink power dvd
