DVD converter [Speed]

April 1st, 2014

I have AVS converter, but it ties up my computer too much and I still don’t see good speeds in coding to DVD format.
Anyone use anything better?
I have 8 Gigs of ram and other bunch of other things, but it always burns up my resources.

ConvertX?

If you have an Nvidia Graphics card there is software what utilizes the the graphics card to rip dvds and is much faster.
If you use software like that you may need something to decrypt the security whilst the ripper is running such as Anydvd.
This is a CUDA enabled converter

The speed of conversion is usually based on your processor speed.

i could guess that you must have a powerful setup with nvidia/ati GPU
normally all s/w use CPU to encode but there are s/w which use GPU power as well
freemakevideo and videocoder use GPU power as well
hope this help

Yep…mostly processor, secondarily HDD speed.
With ConvertX and my CPU (see sig), I usually get between 18-22x (420-530fps).

I usually push out in 30 minutes or less with the AVS. Maybe i am just being too impatient and should learn to walk away . I guess i just want to see if others have something better or if this is avg. speeds for AVS/DVD coding. I have the dycripter, burner and all that, and that is fraction of the time in comparison to encoding.
Thank you for all the replies and suggestions. I think this is a topic that i need to research a bit before asking ‘goog’ly questions
