July 26th, 2016

Hi i want to install xp on this toshiba laptop i have and i can boot from the cd then it says after loading files: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
make sure your hard disk drives are powered roperly and that any disk related hardware configaration is correct. This may involve running manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program… I dont hav any cds except the xp what should i do or download?

Maybe the drives are in a wrong format. Try using GDISK to locate them and format them properly. Just Google it
P.S: You sure you plugged them in?

You most likely need the SATA drivers for your laptop. Do you have a floppy disk drive? If not I think you have to integrate the drivers in your CD. Check here for a guide

EDIT: Ah I just noticed you tried that

I had the same problem when I had a SATA hdd connected
Go to the BIOS:
Set the Detect SATA as IDE instead of AHCI – which works only on Vista

You have to download the SATA/RAID drivers from the Toshiba website.
Then you have to put these on a floppy. (If you don’t have a floppy drive, it works with an USB floppy drive also)
Start up with your Windows CD and let the USB floppy drive connected to the laptop.
When you see the installation screen you wil notice on the bottom of your screen … HIT F6 IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL…
So hit F6, then you’ll have a question for loading the SATA/RAID drivers and then your computer wil go to the drivers on the floppy.
Hit enter and then he will recognize the HDD.
Hope this works…
