Windows Is Lying to Me Now…
August 3rd, 2016
Here it is … hopefully this picture paints a thousand words for you..
I recently reinstalled xp3, and i thought i would look at the space its taking up. When i unlocked the hidden features, it says my entire c drive is 4.77 GB. I unhid the files etc.. to do this . I know the pictures says 3.29 but its actually 4.77 gb(wrong info hehe). Anyways the thing im trying to get at is …. when i highlight c drive (from my computer) and do it, i get told im using 6.20gb.
There is a 1.40 give or take gb diffrence in those two figures…. just wanted to know what was happening? i did a quick format when installing windows.. not the long one…. if that matters….
could someone give me some answers?
cheers
That’s because the Bytes side if it is calculsted 1 MB=1000k…And the bit in GB is calculated 1 MB=1024k…The screen on the right looks to me like just Windows Properties not the whole C drive/partition..Confusing…I know..
Maybe it is also because of backups, that is why i lost about 60 gb once…
idk but i <3 the emulator right there
pokemonz?

Windoze is like a woman…….lies to you all the time and gets all emotional (crashes and hangs) at the slightest thing. lol
Hidden files like hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys, present in the root of the drive, can take up upto 4GB. The difference is space in because of that. View hidden files and you can see what I’m talking about.
my guess is that it’s the system repair folder. iirc it doesn’t shows up even if you set it to show hidden maps. try this:
right click on this computer > properties > system repair.
make sure the option disable system repair on all stations is turned off (it’s a loose translation btw).
then try a restart & that space should be freed up.
remember though, in case you want to do a repair you won’t be able to though.
Marvel is right but i think that you may have the properties open for the Windows folder, im not sure, i hate vista, if so the windows folder is not your entire computer its just where the operating system is, im quite sure this is your mistake seeing how at the top it says “WINDOWS” and the folder is called “WINDOWS” but i could be wrong, it just seems the most likely answer
Don’t worry about it so much, the two types of file size usage methods you are using don’t report consistently, hence the difference in space occupation. The computer is not wrong, there are no invisible files using up your space.
