Windows error – installing new windows 7

February 1st, 2020

I bought a HP pavilion laptop other week pre installed with windows 8.1 then earlier deleted all the partions to install windows 7 game edition only for it to stop at 92% on the install..
Now when i try other windows CD i got it does the windows blue screen installing drives then says..
“A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart you computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical Information:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A98E8,0xFFFFFFFFC000000D,0x0000000000000000,0x0000000000000000)”
I’ve tried xp and windows 7 and it just keeps coming up with this after the drivers install, any ideas..?

That error generally means a boot device is not accessible, more than likely a SATA driver, this used be pretty common in Windows XP as XP did not ship with SATA drivers. If it’s happening in Windows 7 it could very well have something to do with the modded version of Windows oyu are trying to uninstall. My advice is to try installing a unmodded Windows 7 or Windows 8, or else downloaded a different modded release and try that.

Thanks for the advice.. i’ve tried dariks boot and nuke to try wipe the drive but gonna take 9 hours so running active killdisk hoping it will delete all the old partion and hopefully let me install one of these. Also i tried 4 different windows xp and windows 7 an still same error
i’m not really good within computers but this is the specs if it helps
Operating system – Windows 8.1 64 (was windows 8.1)
Processor – AMD Quad-Core A4-5000 Processor + AMD Radeon HD 8330 Graphics
Screen size – 15.6-inch diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1366×768)

Yes use an unmodded version. No point in sodding about with other versions (now you see why). Also congrats on post 666.
Answer #9
Well i’ve tried two of those official links from Microsoft of untouched x86 windows 7 and both have the same problem of missing files so gonna go back with windows 8 see if that works properly.
Answer #10
Try linux bro
Answer #11
When this happened to me I got the drivers from the internet using another PC and put them on USB stick. (it is also better to install windows using a USB stick) Good luck.
Answer #12
Sounds Like HDD problem.

Sounds Like HDD problem.
Laptop is like a week old, HDD scans all give good results along with the memory so it’s not a hardware issue.

Cheers for the replies. I finally got it working with windows 8 pro it’s just missing PCI bus driver but least it seems better than my previous windows 8 install without all the bloat.
Whats the benefits of running from a USB opposed to HDD? plus is windows 8 available on USB.

You can make it boot from a usb you just set it as a bootable drive i dont think ya can get it as usb version itself though for the 1st part i dont think theres that much of a difference only that ya can bring it with ya if you want to stick it on other computers
