Sorry for double post but I only need one OS, but I am getting bored of Windows 7 but I want to change to Mac OS but I don’t know if my computer meets the requirements

Dual boot is the way to go. I found it easer to have 7 installed first and when you install ubuntu you can just install them side by side. If you just want to install ubuntu then just do a fresh install. Id google your hardware, Things like video, I had some problems with a older ATI video card that was not supported in Linux.
Good luck, and please post your results as I a new ubuntu user as well.

I am going to install Ubuntu and I have a Samsung R519 laptop will all keyboard keys work like “Fn” and will all Windows programs work on Ubuntu? and can someone give me a latest stable version of Ubuntu for laptop
Answer #6
Well basically, no windows programs will work on Ubuntu. Some can be used through “Wine”, a sort of Windows emulator.
Also, it’s no guarantee that all your keys and such will work, but probably they will.
It’s a totally different OS. You can try it from a Live CD first.

Hi,
How can I try the Live CD, like what does it do, does it install it or portable and can you give me a download link for Live CD please
The Live CD will not install nothing to your computer. You boot from it and you can test drive the system.
I have a laptop so which one do I need the desktop or the netbook version?
Go for the Desktop version. Netbooks are the really small laptops

I have 10.04 installed on a dell inspiron 6000 laptop. All the function keys work. Volume, LCD brite, wifi on and off and so on. It also had no problems finding drivers. Everything works as it should. I have been playing around with wine a little bit, and at 1 point I had IE7 installed and running. It was very, very, slow. I have been using 10.04 for a couple of months and it very good and stable. I just upgraded today to 10.10 and it seems fine and have had no problems. On a laptop id use the desktop version, I have not tested the netbook version yet and don’t know much about it. Just go to the ubuntu web site and down load the ISO, burn to disk and give it a try, you don’t have to install it if you don’t like it.
You can find just about every thing you need in a Google search.
Good luck.

Ubuntu would be the easiest linux system to learn with and it is very stable.
I use virtualbox for all my other os’s and it will run according to how much system resources you allocate for the desired operating system.
In the end going over to any linux system is a positive move.
If you want a windows system for pc gaming then use dualboot. (virtual machines are not quite there yet for gaming)
If you don’t need to be pc gaming then use virtualbox and or wine for windows apps.
By using virtualbox as long as you have taken snapshots you can recover from issues without all the grief in nearly no time at all.
Hope this helps.
