Where to start on building a website

I got a domain with dreamhost was 9.24 for the year with unlimted hosting, was wondering on where to start,any pointers? Easy software? I think I know which direction I want to go just don’t know how to get thier yet. Thanks

Learn html & css. It was pretty dumb just buying a webspace if you don’t have any basic knowledge on how to create a website.

you can get a site of sorts up quickly search for wysiwyg web page generators like Websitex5 (most free hosts have a simple page maker ?)
and create a basic site from their templates then search for templates on forum find one you like and download both template and Dreamweaver play about with that and be for you know it you will know enough html etc to get by good luck with it

get adobe dreamweaver, best website building software imo for simple html
you can build it using graphical engine or use code, or even use em both at the same time

dreamweaver is the best if you want to get into developing websites.. It’s easy if you’re a beginner to start out with html and when you later on get the hang of it then use stuff like php, cms, css and so on..

If i was you i would google website scripts and then buy some script/s because they are ready made and way better than you could make yourself. Then just advertise your website to get users depending on what your website is about. But make sure you check that the requirements of the script are met by your shared hosting provider (they block alot of stuff) that is why i use a dedicated server for all my scripts. Costs me an arm and a leg tho. Use the scripts and templates section to look for scripts, the best place to find good scripts is to pirate them first. Thats what i do!
Also i think you did the right thing. The way i go into hosting and websites and making money from them was i was young and was bored and bought webhosting.

Thanks swapdude, thing is i sprained my ankle so I have alot of time in my room so I figured they ran a special for 10 dallors, free domain, unlimited hosting for 1 yr…I’ve been browsing through the scripts and template I’m tring to figure out how to add them, thanks again guys.
