Building a PC

September 27th, 2013

Hi,
This thread is more for UK peeps, but anyone can chip in to help!
What is the best place to buy PC components in the UK? I have previously used SCAN.co.uk but the prices there are pretty steep (thanks to VAT and postage).
Are there any better sites to be looking? I know the US has Newegg, but i would rather buy from the UK to avoid paying shipping costs.
Many thanks.

best bet is stating your budget too.

I wasn’t looking for recommendations of parts as such, but since you asked, roughly £400-500. Looking to play games on moderate settings since i already own an XBOX 360 for some gaming.

if you’ve already got a HDD to use then maybe. cause if not HDD prices are pretty high at the moment.

should play most games on high unless your on a really high resolution.

Avoid overclockers and there shoddy customer service record.

Haha, that VAT, was that taken from Scan.co.uk?
At the moment, i have a DVD Drive, Monitor (1440×900), KB/M and a portable HDD which i could easily take apart and use as a main HDD.

yes it was, at the same time i posted.

Yeh, VAT is a pain but it’s the same everywhere.
And that is a scan basket.
Top tip for shopping at scan. and ccl.

I would recommend the same places as jock_juffalo, overclockers are piss poor for customer support. Dabs and CCLonline also have E-bay outlets, which are a lot smaller than the main sites, but often have great bargains.
