VIZIO E3D420VX (Movie on a Thumb Drive?)

September 21st, 2013

Hey guys! I just bought a 42″ VIZIO E3D420VX. I was wondering… Can I watch 720p movies put on a thumb drive in this thing? I can do it in the living room on the Samsung, That TV is always occupied, so I got my own for my room. I plugged it in and all they have in the manual is Photos and Music…But I’ve read somewhere that it only accepts like… WMV or MP4? Which, I don’t have any of my movies in these formats. If anyone has the tv and could explain how they stream movies via thumb drive please let me know!

Multimedia Support
Music (MP3): Yes
Photo (JPEG): Yes
Video (MPEG): No
DLNA: No
Taken directly from their website. I’ll have a look through the pdf manual for you.
Edit: The PDF Manual only mentions Music and Picture support, so you are gonna have to burn some DVDs or get a HTPC, sorry.
But, on the plus side, it’s a damn nice looking TV.

It’s an amazing tv! I just wish it had the support like the Samsung in our living room! Thank you for checking some more for me though! I got this tv for an amazing deal. 450 dollars on black friday! Basically, I was going for a 51″ Samsung and bought it at Target, before i left it didn’t fit in our car so we waited for a friend in a truck to come down, as we waited I noticed the TV was rocking back and forth in the box when we moved it…so I requested to take a look at it and sure enough the tv was shattered! But of course, they were extremely nice. The manager was very sorry about everything and of course, I didn’t go home with it so it was 100% their fault…so they gave me 25% off any TV from 51″ and lower! So I went with the Vizio, had 3D, APPs and other bells and whistles! Just doesn’t have video support … Gonna have to use a player that does or hook my pc up to it via HDMI and watch it that way!
