Uninstall Linux – Single Boot
February 6th, 2020
I have a computer with only one operating system installed being Linux. I don’t even know how to get in GRUB boot menu in linux.
Anyway, how do I completely remove linux to install windows xp?
Get gparted, burn the .iso to a disk, delete all the partitions of the HDD (data will be lost during this process), create two new partitions, one between 15 and 20 GB and one occupying the rest of the space and finally format them to NTFS filesystem. Then install WinXP to the smaller partition. Both of these processes occur by booting via the gparted and WinXP CDs. Also note that you need at least your Ethernet drivers for XP ready before the installation.
None of that is necessary, just put in your windows installation CD, boot from it, and you can format the drive right there while installing…
