Retrieve Pics and Vids

Does anyone know a free programme for retrieving deleted vids and pics on an XD card in a camera?

Well you could use any file recovery tool since an XD card will be read as a FAT/FAT32 device or a logical drive.
If you have any XD card reader/adaptater/slot on your pc, just stick it into it and use any software you want.
If you don’t have a card reader/adaptater/slot on your pc, just plug your camera with the usb cable and configure it to act as a usb device, that trick will do the job.
Now for any recovering utility you can try to download some software from this board (tuneup utilities/ontrack recovery and stuff…) those ones are not free however you can try google for free stuff:

If the card was formatted, you’re not gonna be able to get anything.
Well in fact, if it was a smart/fast format, then you might still get some files since only the FAT (File Allocation Table) was erased but not the content, so the software might still be able to recover your files. To make a long story short, only names were erased, not your pictures.
But if it was a plain/full format, there is no way to get back your data since it was all wiped…

OK…. Think they are gone then….. My own fault as I put the post in the wrong topic and got no replies until now….. But too late as I formated the card on the camera. Thanks to all who tried to help. Next time………

It won’t matter that you formatted it. Try those recovering programs. They should still work. I read a story of of a company that restores files and they had once managed to get 7mb of data off a 1.4mb floppy So nothing is impossible.
