Retrieve data
January 30th, 2020
I have an hard disk 1tb Toshiba sata 3, don’t know the exact model and i’ve stored some files on it, around 500 gb.
The disk is installed in an external portable case for 3.5 disks with usb 2.0 connection (Bluestork).
I used to plug n save my data on it. I wanted to transfer some files on it but one day the disk just stop recognized by windows and the Os asks me to reformat it ??
What should i do ? Did you ever face this kind of problem ? and what should i do first ? Retrieve data ? or do you know some tips or tricks to get the disk recognize without being formated ? Is there some good software that you’ve already used to retrieve data and worked to you ?
All your suggestions are welcome. Thanx in advance for your help.
Maybe the enclosure is busted..
Remove the HD and connect it to a PC..
check another PC, as suggested above, or another enclosure to see if the connection/cable is bad, otherwise some apps can be used to pull data from the drive itself, but you will need to store somewhere, so …
Try data recovery with File Scavenger
ok i’m gonna remove it and try to connect directly to a new formatted pc.
If it’s not working then i’ll use file scavenger.
Thanks.
No man, just connect it to any other working PC
i’ve though just as you and tried it a long time ago but no success. I think i’m gonna try it directly to my 2nd pc at home but i first need to format it completely and i’m a bit lazy now :p and as i’m lazy i just don’t wanna get the disk outside the portable case so i’ll probably connect to a clean and freshly formated pc. Thanx for the advice, hope it will work .
