rapidshare troubles router/modem connection problems
August 3rd, 2016
There seems to some kinda error between my connection with ~ Dead file host ~
I believe its an IP or DNS error of some sort.
Up until now, (about 10 months of using rapidshare), i’ve never had any connection problems with rapidshare, but yesterday this problem arose and i haven’t worked it out yet.
To the best I can explain, rapidshare quite frankly just won’t load. I’ve tried restarting everything (pc, router, modem, flashget, ff), and the best result i get is when i restart the router + modem, i get about 3 minutes of connection time before it drops out again. I can, however, access the site through a proxy (hidemyass.com) but cannot DL anything with the proxy anyway. Without the proxy, i can’t access the webpage, and flashget won’t connect to the servers to DL off. Sometimes also, if i leave the download running .. it will start dling for a few minutes then disconnect again (similar to after restarting the modem and router). I tested another computer in my house and it had the same problem indicating connection issues.
I don’t think the error is with my ISP, as my friends on the same provider can still access it,, but i’m just assuming that would mean its not my ISPs fault.
The only thing left i can think of is to see if theres a FW upgrade for my router, but i struggle to think this will solve it as it worked previously.
Anyway thanks again for anyone to read this and offer some ideas / solutions
Cheers,

always a good start to email them, although they might take a while.
Try restarting your router (if you have a dynamic IP it would be great) and try to access Rapidshare. Don’t try downloading anything, just go to the Rapidshare site and see what happens. It’s a Rapidshare problem, they sometimes ban IPs when you create too many connection with their server, it’s too prevent abuse. They ban the IP for a while to protect themselves. Anyway, try restarting your router and see what happens (again, if you have a dynamic IP it would be best). Good luck mate ^_^
I’ve had problems like this before, call up your ISP and they can give you another IP.
maybe look at your settings on your modem/router
Hey thanks for all your replies guys
I think it was an IP ban. I left my router off for a good half hour and restarted my PC (which would renew my ip), and it seems to be running smoothly for now. I think this is really bad since i pay 7 pound a month to use it and its trying to prevent me using it. Anyway i’m just downloading 1 file a time for now and i’ll see how it goes seems to have solved the problem. Ps, I had IP ban for over 24 hours … seems ridiculous since i pay for the service i should be able to abuse it as much as like .. anyway its worked well in the past this is the only hiccup and it seems to have cleared so hopefully all goes well.
Thanks again for your help, i was running out of ideas there
If problems persist i’ll post again.
Cheers,
Edit: Okay so i though it fixed it .. but it didn’t lol
might give my ISP a call and see if they can give me a new IP.
Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome and appreciated
Cheers,
U can try changing your dns to open dns, If u need help on that, p.m me
theres a good solid fix in the help desk.Try the host file fix.I was one of the many who had regular problems connecting to rapidshare, after i used the host file fix i havent had any probs since, its by far the most reliable fix out there.
Hello all,
Just posting back to keep anyone interested updated xD
I am now pretty sure I have solved the problem. Turned out i had a buggy incomplete DL in my list, and whenever I tried resuming that DL it would crash rapidshare for me (i think it would log my IP from this DL then ban me). I think i was being IP banned every time i tried to resume this DL, because it was trying to make 27 connections rather than the 5. After resetting my router and trying other DLs they work fine, without crashing or IP banning me from rapidshare.
So just a heads up for anyone who searches this due to similar errors, try clearing your DL list and .jc files, then restarting your router for a new IP.. as this is what worked for me. Thanks once again for all the suggestions, it did help me out.
Cheers,
