My LCD HDTV is posterizing when watching movies, why?

December 8th, 2020

As the title says, my tv is posterizing the movies i watch, whether it be a retail DVD/Bluray or an avi/mkv video.
Its strange because if i watch tv chans and not a movie it never does it on those, and the HD tv chans are perfect so it cant be the tv?
Its not REALLY bad but its annoying and noticeable, its like the colours dont blend right and have a fuzzy grainy contoured look, mainly on dark scenes and scenes of reds/browns, even more so in backgrounds.
I am using an LG BP125 to watch my dvd/bluray/files on.
It also does it on my xbox 360.
Any ideas?

Posterization seems to be either something to do with basketball ! or maybe the definition shown here..

Maybe the TVs setting on the inputs you are using are not good.
Go into the TVs menu and try adjusting things like sharpness.
If you want more suggestions, quote the make and model of your TV.

sounds like your PC’s color depth is to low
it should be set to 24 or 32 bit

I’m not using a PC, just my TV/Bluray Player.

TV is an ALBA LC-40GL12E
Bluray Player is an LG BP125

You getting it with different hdmi sockets and different cables?
Can’t find any setting adjustments?
Looks like a faulty video processor circuit board in the TV..
Would really need a repair agent to swap boards around.
