My ISP may be limiting my downloads!

August 8th, 2016

OK I have been experiencing a lot of wierdness lately downloading from ~ Dead file host ~.
I download LOTS of stuff there – or at least, I USED to. My account at rapidshare is OK.
Now, (using FlashGet), after about 100MB is downloaded, say from a 500 MB file, the speed drops to 0 and the time left goes up to infinity. In other words, the file transfer has stopped. I had 4 connections active. This happens all the time now. After a day or so, I can download another 100 MB or so. I really cannot download much at all lately.
It seems like COX is detecting the download and throttling it back.
Anybody else seeing this sort of nonsense?
Any ideas on how to find out what exactly is happening?
I know how to use Internet tools…just don’t know what to look for. Any ideas appreciated.

does your internet plan have a download limit? Even if you think you may not be going over it, downloading from rs with flashget can make it seem like you’ve downloaded more than you actually have, in both RS account and ISP. It’s possible that you’ve just gone over the RS download limit

1. use internet download manger (BETTER)
2. Switch to verizon internet

had a problem like that on comca$t
I would disconnect from the net if I let flashget go full throttle (400 to 450) and the modem would cycle back on (go tho the 4 lights)
if I throttled it back (189) it would run fine
just day before yesterday my cable box stopped working, no reception
called support and they reset the cable box, and while she did that she found that I was on the wrong “header”, I think she called it, not sure tho
was set to 83, she said, and then said I should have been on 84
she changed it and the last 2 days my cable works & the internet problem seems to be gone also
only been 2 days so not totally sure, but so far so good
