My comp lags after I dl something in firefox, or watch .mkv

Well i play dota every now on then (warcraft 3) and everytime I download something (even a small 1 MB file) my whole comp lags until I have to restart the comp.
The reason why I brought up dota is because when my comp lags, there is a 100% chance that there will be a blue screen of death while playing dota.
I tried a virus scan with NOD32 and only 1 threat was found and it still does it.. help please?

go to Start > Run and type chkdsk

what OS?.. Pc specs? …how much RAM installed?…. sounds like low system resources to me. [not enough RAM memory]

I play DOTA too in garena. where do u play mate?? Garena also causes temporary lag to me when I sign out or close the program. The reason why I brought up dota is because when my comp lags, there is a 100% chance that there will be a blue screen of death while playing dota.
I am not clear to ur word. Do u use Delay Reducer? DR can make the problem.

what operating system are you using? Vista or XP? if its XP, 1gb of ram should be fine..if its Vista, then, 1gb isn’t even close to enough.
you would need at least another 1gb of ram with Vista.

I dont know what garena is but I play at home
And uhh, i use VCK (yeah it has delay reducer in it, I set it to 80). Should it really be VCK that causes lag? i mean.. it seems like a small program oO and I didnt have this lag before even when I had vck, it just started recently like starting 2 weeks ago
oh and i meant that whenever i ‘feel’ that the lag is going on after dling or watching a video or whatever, and when i go on dota and play, my comp goes to BSOD so i have to rs comp. but when i dont have the lag and play dota i can play thru the whole game so i know its the lag that gives me the disconnections when i play dota

Ive been having 1 gb ram for like a year now, and i had no sign of this lag occuring like this back then either.. it just started like 2 weeks ago I ran a virus scan with NOD32 and it still does it

have you installed anything lately in the last two weeks. Maybe if you did thats what could be causing it. Also have you considered a system restore?
