Looking for a DVD player to play any movie from this site

September 3rd, 2013

Hi,
I’m looking to get a DVD player for my mate so he can watch anything I download.
So compatibility is a must. Must be able to play anything here including all the recent codecs/containers like mkv 264 etc.
CDR and DVD -R/+R compatible. USB is a bonus but not essential.
What’s the latest must-have player that is cheap?
Thanks

why dont you try a media player and a usb pen ? saves you the money on them discs
i paid 35 pound for my media player and it works a treat not failed me on a single movie yet

if you live outside the united kingdom not sure if they will ship outside the UK have to try contact them via email, but that media player is brilliant and i recommend a 16gb pen drive also that media player ive mentioned needs a HDMI cable, a cheap one will do if you havent got one no need for a stupidly expensive one i dont see any difference from the 55 pound hdmi cables to the 5 pound ones. you might get one with it but im not sure
ITS CHEAPER THAN WHEN I BOUGHT IT SO BUY IT FAST BEFORE PRICES GO UP
you can put about 20+ films on them and play them all with no problems then when he’s finished with them films he just brings them to you, you remove and put a further 20+ on there for him saves on the discs

mate that is great, thanks for taking your time to show me that link. wow these media players make life so much easier! i might buy one myself for our telly downstairs.
gonna have to look for one that has a scart out tho as me and him still have old crt tellies.
Answer #5
yeh if you have an old tv then you would need to try find one which takes scart cable, just have a check on that website if your friend uses a HD TV or an up to date one then that shouldnt be a problem for him
Answer #6
yeah problem is we both have old TVs. and seems only other option is composite but i know that running composite into a scart convertor adapter sometimes makes it go black and white?? anyone know why? i think this happens for ntsc.
man, old video formatas are a pain in the ass

Yeah – tell hime to buy a media player and/or external hard drive. You can simply copy your files to them.
Sumvision with the latest firmware update will play files with MKV header compression, unlike the WD Live ones.
The sumvision Cyclone Primus has a 2TB hdd in it (I have one) and is excellent – they are normally £99. (up in price due to hdd shortage) . Get a better quality scart to composite cable adapter they are about £4 for a good one, but it could be just that they are NTSC (never twice the same colour) – you could convert them to PAL.
Some new LG and Samsung TV’s will play these files direct from USB, look for “Nel” in this section, I think he is up to speed on what TV’s will enable the playback of the files.
best of luck.

I use a LG network bluray player on the old crt upstairs tv. It plays everything I asked it to, the pisture is good, and I can use the old disks if needed
composite output is only 480i but it is not terrible for an old crt

here are some specs on the LG BD670 (this is a us NTSC model)
I am not sure if it is available in a PAL version. This is a DIVX enabled network player

Video Content Format
DivX®/DivX HD, MPEG4 AVC, HP@L4.1, MPEG2, HP@ML, SMPTE VC1, AP@L3, MPEG2, HP@ML, AVCHD, MKV

You won’t find many media players with scart connectors because scart is a European connector and not supported outside Europe. Germany is your best bet as they still tend to support Scart.
Most media players support composite output but that is the worst quality available after RF.
There is a Freeview HD box which has a Scart and does some media playback but the company seems to have gone bust. I was reading about it last night. 3view was the company. No further support so purchasing would be a bad idea.
There are some satellite boxes which have scarts and can play media files. The Azbox’s can and Atevio and there might be a few others. The chipsets are not the latest so support won’t be as wide as the most recent chipsets. Linux satellite receivers are another possibility as most of those have scarts, if you can find one with media playback capabilities.
However for best media support, you might have to settle for Composite.

any player with divx can with exception of MKV…although Phillips makes a great little player that plays MKV files too…under $50…
