juz one simple question

I am currently running on windows vista home basic and want to upgrade to windows 7 because windows vista sucks really bad!!! However, I have many files which I still want to keep(don’t ask how many, I won’t be able to back them all up).
I heard that if I dont reformat my computer b4 installing a new OS is not very good? Can someone explain to me the consequences or is there some way I can juz install windows 7 without having to reformat and won’t have any bad side effects.

You can use the upgrade options….You won’t loose no settings or files…But there is no guarantees that you won’t encounter any problems along the way…The only safe way is to backup…

You can do an upgrade (replaces the OS, keeps all your files/programs) from Vista Home Basic to Win7 Home Premium or Win7 Ultimate.

You could get an external HDD. They’re not too expensive. That way you can be safe you won’t lose your porn collection. Plus you may find another use for it later.

I store any of such things in my computer so don’t assume that I do when u don’t have proof.
Back to topic, , how do i upgrade? simply get a version of windows 7 and install it and it will automatically replace my windows vista?

Yes, if you get yourself the proper version of Win7 (Home Premium or Ultimate), there will be an option to upgrade once you boot from the disc. Follow the (very simple) on screen instructions, and it will replace Vista with Win7 while keeping all your files, programs, and settings intact.
