Is it Bad to Remove device without safely remove
August 5th, 2016
Yea..It’s not a good ideas…But I do it all the time…
I don’t remember the last time I safely removed anything
i do it all time too….
Safely Remove will try to “STOP” all the hardware functionality before ejecting the device.
A word of advice though, make sure your computer is not reading/writing from/to the drive before yanking it out!

Good advice…If you have to do it the lazy way like some of us do…Make sure you follow what said…
Yh I do all the time. I mostly use iomega and freecom drives. They hav a on/off switch on the back. First I off. Then I take out USB cable. I nvr used that saftey removal thing
like said nvr ever do that

Agreed! If you pull the plug out when it’s working. It might get corrupted. Just like my harddrive which got corrupted. Safe Eject WILL ENSURE your drive is at stopped state & then it’s released.
I hope this is clear
When you save a lot of small files or one big file to a flash drive they file(s) get put into memory first, then written to flash.
That way you see them ‘finish’ very quickly, but they are still writing to the flash drive.
Safe eject fully commits the files to be written NOW, not as cpu cycles are available. Without it you will lose those files and most likely corrupt the flash drive.
Having said that, if you are sure the drive is written-finished, just yank it out!
It Is becouse you can loose your data on the device and broken it
i never faced any problems clicking out my drive directly..
so i guess it isnt bad..
i always safely remove, better be safe than sorry
just plug it out who cares! LOL
By default settings USB drives are set for quick removal so it’s fairly safe to remove em without safely ejecting
first,However data loss/corruption may occur if any
program is reading/writing to it at the time,So before
ejecting close any programs that run from it or read/write to it (like
windows explorer or download manager/backup app if set to use it
as destination) then you can just eject at ease,Also to be on
the safe side never install apps to it as some may run on startup.
Safely Remove USB is correct thing to do when you want to disconnect your USB from PC without damaging the USB
lol i never do safety remove with all my usb. ive had usb since i can remember and it still works
i do safety remove only with my external HD

As said on my previous post,Provided that necessary precautions
are taken no data loss will occur.IMO safe removal was invented
for noobs,M$ probably thought “Hey let’s add this cool feature so
people won’t go asking if it’s OK to just remove their USB drive”
Safe removal is useless anyhow because if there’s a program reading/writing
to it it’ll just say it failed to safely remove and won’t tell the person
what app is using it,So following precautions is definitely the way to go.
yeah, for sure!
i always remember to click the safely remove icon after i have removed my external drive……
ps:-its alwz better to do so before
its good to not to safety remove it . some virus quickly spread when you use the safety remove .
i think your good as long as you werent copying anything…if its you finished copying the file to the usb stick and remove it long after its done im sure it will be fine..
2nd this. Can’t do much damage as i’ve done this for ages and everything works as it should.

Its not bad, but it is not recommended, just make sure you’re not transferring or reading any file from the usb when you take it out, otherwise your data might get corrupted.
