Install Windows 7 with a USB Pen Drive. Need Help.

August 21st, 2013

Okay, here’s the deal:
I got two PCs and one of them is BLUE SCREENED and I wanna format it since it’s clogged with virus.
1) I’ve already installed Win7 in my 8GB USB and it was a perfect transfer. I used Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to get things done.
2) I inserted the USB into the blue-screened computer. But, it tells me to SELECT A BOOT MEDIA PRESS A KEY thing. I used F2 to enter BIOS and it says the first choice of boot is the USB. This is the problem.

How can I install Windows 7 with a Pen Drive? I already did everything I read when I googled but still, nothing. I really need help. Thanks.

The pen drive isn’t properly setup as a boot device. You did something wrong with that part.

How dated is the PC? Motherboard model? On the boot order,What options do you have exactly? List em all.
Usually,To install an OS from a flash drive,The BIOS has to support booting from a USB-HDD,Some very
old ones only support floppy drive emulation which is useless for this task. But of course I can’t say
for sure whether this is indeed the case,ajcis55 may have a point,Test it on your current PC and see if it boots.

Yep, If it’s an old PC then try it on a newer PC and see if it will boot.
I have trouble booting USB on my PC which is an old P4 and says USB-FDD as Roberto mentioned.
Some things like EASUS or Acronis boot disks or a basic DOS disk will work..
But I have not been able to get Hiren’s BootCD to work, no matter what USB converting app.I tried.
I think that sometimes that Windows download thing is a bit critical on the exact Windows ISO, so you might want to give Flashboot a try..

Or Win to Flash..

When you installed it to the USB flash, it probably didnt make it a bootable device
Try using Flashboot (its also in the apps section) or WinToFlash as Nel suggested
