install windows on a removable drive?
August 4th, 2016
i have an old 2.5″ and i’m getting an enclosure for it. just wondering if i can set my bios to boot from usb, and install vista on the drive so i can boot into vista when i want.
just an idea…
i think its possible,if u have a portable version of windows…

ok thanks. not really what i want though. i’d just like to try vista without messing with my xp installation.
i guess i probably can’t run it in vmware on xp with just 2 gb ram.
so in the end i just have to try to shuffle things around to make a new partition for installing vista…
sounds like a lot of work
find portable version on this site mate.. just use the search—————-
the portable versions are just bartpe though. i want proper vista. i’ll just make a new partition and dual boot. i’ve been reading, it’s not as hard as i thought it would be.
i’ll probably ditch vista after a few days anyway, but i still want to try it out…
It’s hard enough to get windows XP to install on an external drive…Vista must be even harder…
