Hp Laptop problems

August 8th, 2016

I hate Windows 8 and 8.1 with a passion. my system slows down, I get crashes Its very buggy.
I want to downgrade to windows XP or Windows 7 even but There are no drivers on the HP website other than for windows 8 I have a HP-g6 2398 sa Even when I installed windows 7 I can’t ever get the HDMI out or usb 3.0 to work.
If I try to install XP it comes up with the blue screen of death
I believe it doesnt have the right drivers for more modern systems.
If all else fails i would be happy with ubuntu but I want to be able to rip bluray backups from my movie collection

Answer #1
You should be able to go directly to the manufacturers sites for the devices you’re trying to find the drivers for, and download them there. What is the chipset and who is the manufacturer of the motherboard? I think that would be a good place to start.

You can do directly to the manufacturer site and download them. Its up-to-date and prob have multi OS support.
HP site or any other “AIO” site wont have up-to-date stuff or will only have for the specific model. Like win 8 laptop. Only show/have win 8 drivers.

the manufacturers website only has for windows 8
Amd have, but after downloading and installing, hdmi out still doesnt work and none of the graphics profiles do either

Vista/Win7/Win8 & 8.1 all use the same driver model, So most Win8 drivers would work with Win7 too!

I believe it doesnt have the right drivers for more modern systems.

XP doesn’t have native support for AHCI, So it’d BSOD if the SATA controller is set to it in the BIOS.
Changing it to IDE/Compatibility mode would work (But performance wise, If you have an SSD, I wouldn’t recommend it!) Another way to go would be integrating SATA drivers as explained here:
http://www.google.com?p=77955479#77955479
Or downloading another XP copy that already has em integrated. Do keep in mind that the 32bit version of XP can’t recognize more than 3.25GB’s of RAM.
There’s also a 64bit version of XP, But it’s not that popular with hardware manufacturers (Driver wise)
If you wanna play it safe, Go no lower than Win7. You may have a hard time finding XP drivers for your laptop!
If all else fails i would be happy with ubuntu but I want to be able to rip bluray backups from my movie collection
It can also be done on Ubuntu (Or other Linux distro’s in general) Just Google it. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Ubuntu, It’s way too overrated, And there are better distro’s out there!

I get all my drivers here ………….
http://www.station-drivers.com/
Install AIDA 64 which will list all your hardware (plus loads more) then go to either the manufacturers website or the above site and you should be able to get everything you need.
I’m using Windows 8.1 update 1 on a really ancient motherboard that doesn’t even support 64 bit and it works perfectly for me.
You could also try setting your BIOS to IDE compatible instead of SATA …. this can sometimes solve some issues. (Oops! Just noticed Roberto covered this )
I get crashes Its very buggy
No it isn’t ……. at least not on my dusty old faithful way out of date hardware.
