How to download online streaming videos without software
August 6th, 2016
I want to know how to download streaming videos on any website (not only Youtube) without any software like IDM. I tried to view website source code but I can’t find a link to download video. I don’t want to use any software that require administrator rights. I don’t mind if there are many steps.
Most often you have seen that while playing any online video / music buffering is done and that file is temporarily stored in browser cache area and hence once buffering is done you can re-watch that video in same session.
Now once buffering is complete, you can copy that file from browser cache area and that file is now yours !!
If you are using Firefox, here is how you can copy this file.
1. Play any video in youtube and wait until buffering is complete.
2. Open a new tab in Firefox and type about:cache.
3. Copy Cache directory address under Disk Cache device column.
4. Sort that area as per last modified date and check for file having large size.
5. Copy this file and rename it, you can now enjoy your your youtube video offline.
Note: Cache area is bydefault have limited space, so if you are playing large videos cache area will be overridden and you cant get complete video.
To increase limit for cache in Firefox:
a) go to Tools -> Options
b) Select Advanced tab
c) Select Network tab under it.
d) Set offline storage capacity as per your requirement.
For IE users, oh personally i dont use IE , to find out cache directory do following
1) Press ALT+T (keyboard shortcut) to access Tools menu and then select Internet Options (the last item in the Tools menu).
2) In General tab, click the Settings button of Browsing History section.
3) Click View Files button. There are only 3 buttons available in Temporarily Internet Files and History Settings dialog box. Here you can set the size of IE cache folder too.
It is almost same for other browsers too. Hope it helps.
You want to do it manually? With out software? What the software does is watch the http status codes for the direct links to the streams after the tokens have been acquired. So enjoy http headers:
