How do you sync subtitle with downloaded movie/tv shows?

August 5th, 2016

All….
sorry if the question is too simple…but really appreciate if anyone could help
I have followed several suggestions from this forum to find the subtitle from lots of subtitle sites (e.g. opensubtitles)
however, when i use it with the movie, it’s not sync…
how can i sync them?
thanks a lot

Answer #1
try to download the subs from the same upload as the movie, so the frame rates are the same and they stay in sync

If u cant get to find the same version subtitles/movie u can try using subtitles creator which will let tu push foward or pull back the subtitles timing. Nevertheless it will give a lot of work

google for subtitles for your release of the movie, say it is an aXXo torrent for instance then google for ‘<film name> aXXo <language> subtitles’.

As already mentioned, if you find the correct subtitles that match the group who released the Movie/TV show then they should be in fairly good sync. The frame rate does make a difference as the movie length of a PAL source movie will be different to it’s NTSC/Film length and so using the subtitles made for a movie with a different frame rate the subs will be out of sync.
If you need to adjust subtitles then use Subtitle Workshop as it is the best. You may be able to get subtitles made for a different frame rate or scene release to work with the Movie you have by adjusting the frame rate and start end times so that it is in fairly good sync.

The easiest way to ‘Resync’ subs is to use VOB sub (Freeware) which comes with Media Player Classic

You seriously want to take a look at Subtitle Workshop, then you would really know what “Easiest way” really means. It is far more visual, you see the video and subtitles playing and can adjust them, slow the video down, speed it up, change the frame rate, check for overlaps, spell check, adjust to already synced subs and many more options to make any necessary changes to even badly synced subtitles.
Vobsub is extremely basic in comparison and very cryptic with it.

Hold down ctrl or shift and press either H or J, I think it is. If not it will be K or L. One pair does + – for subs sync and the other pair does the audio sync. A bit vague sorry but it is one of those combinations. Its a while since I used it.
