Help with my new built PC
August 5th, 2016
I recently made a new rig for myself with some help from fellow members of this forum.
I got every thing to work (Fans spinning, DVD drive, HDD, all LEDs lit up, etc.) unfortunately when I go to boot my PC, I get no signal on my monitor. I have a 32″ Samsung LCD which I am using to hook up with my PC through a HDMI cable.
I’m pretty sure the monitor and cable are fine since I have been using the HDMI cable fine with my PS3 and I just bought my LCD TV in November.
I also tried booting it out of the case but still no luck.
Took everything apart to make sure all connections were fine, put it back together and still no luck.
My specs are…
Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor
GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD4 LGA 1156 Intel P55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory MSI R5770-PM2D1G/Seaweed Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V
Does is work with the DVI cable? Some times you need additional drivers for HDMI after…
No, I connected to the PC input into my TV using the DVI cable but still no luck.
So you are using a TV for the first boot up?
Correct.
do you have a normal old vga cable output on the back of your pc, to test it. Your tv should have a pc port.
Does the GPU fan spin when first turn on?
Also you sure the GPU is in the corect X16 X16 slot not X16 X8.
Unfortunately I do not have a VGA cable output on my PC.
And yes the fan turns on and I have my GPU in the right slot.
Did you hook up the 4pin connector near the cpu socket?
It’s required for the processor to operate , Another possibility
is that you didnt seat the processor properly , Or that the motherboard is DOA , Get the ram modules out and see if it beeps , If it doesn’t then its defintley DOA
Yes the 4pin connector is connected.
I will check now to see if it beeps without the RAM.
I will post updates in a minute.
UPDATE: Nope, there was no beep at all.
Then its DOA for sure , Unless you forgot to connect the case speaker to the motherboard
Wait… I just realized my case does not have any case speakers.
But shouldn’t I still be able to hear the beeps through the speakers that are integrated within the MOB?
Nope , Motherboards don’t have a built-in speaker, A speaker is provided by the case ONLY,Most of em have one but some don’t , Your certain that your’s don’t ? Could be hidden , Check the wires,Look for one that have spkr/speaker on it
Oh okay.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge and confusion.
Nope.
Speakers did not come with the MOB.
Could someone explain how I would be able to hear the beeping noises?
You still seem confused to me , I’ll explain it even further then,The case is the box that houses all of the parts , A speaker is an integral part of the vast majority of em , Its a pretty small one that is often hidden , A speaker DOES NOT come with a motherboard , Its an integral part of PC cases as said and it connects to the motherboard , You should check the writing on your case wires
So the speakers are built within my Coolermaster 690, correct?
If yes, I do have a cable that reads, HD_AUDIO. But I am pretty sure this is for the audio jack on my I/O panel.
I’m very sorry for all the confusion.
It’s my first PC ever building.
Here are the specs for my Coolermaster 690.

1 speaker,Very small one,On the internal front panel , But i googled it
and it seems your case does not have a speaker which is a major con
if you ask me as its very useful to diagnose certain hardware problems
, If i were you i’d RMA the motherboard and replace the case aswell,Take
one that actually have a speaker,Have it checked first
Alright.
Thanks a lot for the help !
haha robbie is owning this helpdeck today
Is it working now? If not post pics of how you have it all set up.
How have you connected the PSU to the GPU?
Just read on few other forums there seems to be a bit of an issue with the 5770:
What ended up working was updating my BIOS for the motherbaord. For the Gigabyte K8N-SLI baords, there is a beta BIOS available since December 17th, 2009, for the sole purpose of improving video card compatibility. I gave it a shot, and after doing it for the first time, my board can post with the 5770.

1. Improve PCIe x8 slot compatibility
Just disassemble EVERYTHING and put it back together.
My friend brought his PC monitor over so I could try it on his monitor.
I have a PCI-E cable from my PSU connected directly to the GPU.
Will post pics later if I still have problems.
Also, , what do I do with the file after extracting it to my Desktop?
Good guide

hmm..
Since I cannot access the bios menu because all of my monitors are refusing to, how would I come about updating it?
Would I just use a bootable USB drive?
First post pictures of the whole setup and how you have it all connected. Save bios update for after checking the obvious things. We need to actually see the system in detail to rule out the obvious.
One that catches out people regularly is…
Did you plug in the CPU power 8/4 pin on the motherboard?
Thank you for all the help guys!
I got my system to work.
It seemed like I just had a loose connection somewhere.
