Help Why so many drive letters….

February 8th, 2022

I use Daemon tools to give me an extra drive to mount, plus I have the usual dvd drive, but thats all I have yet I have all these other drive letters. Is there anyway to find out how to remove them?
I have:
C Drive
D Drive
E Drive
F Drive
G Drive
H Drive
I Drive
I have left out J drive since a USB is plugged in and L and M has 2 portable drives attached.
I’ve gone to Daemon and said unmount all and remove all.
Confused….

Answer #1
Did you try to uncheck the Automount option in Daemon tools preferences?
Answer #2
Yes gone through all that and everything is unticked
Answer #3
Double click ’em or right click and go properties..
C: drive is normally always your main Windows system drive.
D: and E: could be a storage drive or partition and a DVD drive.
Do you have a card reader ?…This can account for 4 empty drives..
Answer #4
Bugger me, I do have the built in card reader slots, can these be disabled if you’re not using them?
Answer #5
Go to “folder options” -> View and uncheck “show hidden files and folders” and “show empty hard drives.”
