help needed: Received message from Microsoft for FREE upgrade to Windows 10

August 7th, 2016

hi all,
i received message from Microsoft ( from tray ) that:

Introducing Windows 10
Microsoft recommends that you reserve your copy of Windows 10.
For a limited time we are offering a FREE upgrade to Windows 10

what is this ” reserve you copy ” ? i have a legal licensed copy of Windows 7, will it starts upgrade or just ” reserve ” me to upgrade in future? is it right time to upgrade to 10? what about stability and security?
please help and guide me.
regards.

That’s a legit offer. There’s plenty of information about it on google.
You reserve your copy, windows update downloads it when it’s your turn, you upgrade manually it doesnt automatically start, free windows 10 directly from **microsoft** (Free upgrade available until 29/07/2016, after that its a paid upgrade).
As far as the right time goes, no. Too much issues with drivers atm, i’d wait atleast another month (if not 2)
** edit: not from google ofc, but from microsoft **

That’s exactly what the reservation is for, they check your machine and see which drivers are missing. @OP: The offer is valid for a year.

Euhm no,
Guess you havent heard about the nvidia driver issue right? Driver was “compatible” with w10 and passed WHQL but the forum was still flooded with complaints about the driver causing BSOD’s, entire sections missing in the control pannel, driver crashing …
The reservation only checks if hardware is good enough, it does NOT check which drivers are missing nor if they’re compliant.

Yes it does, I have used the reserve on several machines and it shows you exactly which devices don’t have drivers so I’d assume MS employees either create generic drivers for those or contact the equivalent manufacturers to request newer versions or both. I specifically remember for my home PC only my screen was incompatible.

k well then maybe it does check if there are drivers, it DOESNT check if they work correctly.
Case & point:

Atm 105 pages of ppl complaining about their so called “WHQL passed compatible win10 driver” causing nothing but issues.

normally for products like operating system or pills , developers should pay people to participate product trial periods and perfection before it is released. even if they dont pay they supply free usage of it in the future. thanks to excited people with 0 reason , win 10 didnt need to do any of those. if we buy clothes and there are defects on it , we demand change. if we buy hardware and if it has problems , we send it to warranty. operating systems are same, it is not my job to report or participate the development of a product that i pay for. it is company’s thing. this is not something open source and free.
so dont upgrade from win 7 to win 10 for a few months more , you have no reason to do that , win 10 doesnt provide any significant benefits over win 7 but only problems. if it is cracked version you are dealing with , you are free to deal as much as you want what i told is valid for who has legit products and paid for it.
even helpdesk on wbb is full of win 10 problems , i cant imagine the other support sites. yet people amazingly keeps upgrading.

I’ve DLed the iso myself but not gonna install it yet, too much driver issues atm. I always wait a couple months or even until 1st SP is out
Answer #10
it is not only related to excitement or os problems. when there is unnecessarily excessive demand on something , corporations find courage to do things otherwise they wouldnt. such as

Answer #11

Answer #12
