HD disappear on WINXP after a while ?

i am having a weird problem with my computer, the configuration of it is:
MB P5LD2-X 1333 (it does support SATA and SATA2, the bios is updated to the latest once i started having problems with it)
C2D 1.80
2 Ghz Mem
2 HDD ( WSD 160GB and MAXTOR 500GB – the one with 500G is giving me trouble )
DVD LG
What happens is that when i turn it on it will detect the 500G HD on the BIOS when i go to windows some times it appers on the system and sometimes i need to turn of the computer to get it on, it runs for a while and then disappear again. Some time when i am copying data it will just disappear and return a system message saying it is lost bla bla.
Anyway, this is the 4 HDD i am trying on this computer, 3 MAXTOR and 1 SAMSUNG all with 500G, the samsung was making a tick tick noise and had all it is surface with error when i ran the ES-TOOL Diagnostic tool from samsung website. The 3 Maxtor’s presented me no error with their diagnostic tool. The first 2 Maxtors i tried in when i turned them to SATA 2 they wouldnt get detected by the BIOS, This last one does get detected without problems.
I have changed the cables, many times for testing but there was not reply in return for good.
So without knowing what could it be i am here requesting for any advice or help or link that could help me out in this case.

PS: (if i made myself too complicated please spot where and i will try to make it a little clear since english inst my main laguage and i lack a lot of it.
Could be your power supply…
Well it could but if it was the power supply, wouldnt it possible work if i turn off the other hard drive or the dvd driver and let just the other HD running ?
could be a faulty HDD, most likely the power supply if you ask me. Try it out in a friends computer if you can!
But if it was the power supply wouldnt the other HDD not work properlly too ?
The power supply on the computer in case is 450W should i try a 500W or higher then it ?
I have a few other computers so i can change their power supply to test it … But if i had the knowledge of how much power i would need at least an “around messure” it would be better for me as i wouldnt need to change it is nobreak.

I dont think you need more watts for your hard drives. I have 460 watts for 4 hard drives: 1- 1TB, 2- 1TB 3- 320GB 4- 320GB I have not experience any problems with the power. My first thought on your hard drive is that it may be on the way out. You may want to back up important data on the mystery hard drive that is causing you problems just in case.
IT is a BRAND NEW HDD like i stated earlly … I have changed it and this one is the 4 HDD i am using they were all BRAND NEW !
Even so i don’t know if the power supply is 450W real or not or how to verify it either …
Oh just thought of something. Do you know how to get into “event viewer”? Check and see if you get error messages when the hard drive disappears, that may tell you what you are looking for.
Right click “my computer icon”
Click on “manage”
Highlight “event viewer”
CLick on the ” + ” to expand that section and look for any errors at the exact time your hard drive disappears.

It says “that the HDD Maxtor went off without being prepared to go”… Since my OS is in a diff language the quoted text is a translation of what it would be in english. Besides that it shows me nothing else.

Update, problem solved.
After many try out i finally find out that even having a nobreak that can receive 220/110volts the power supply does not understand it and if it is at 220 it will not give to the MB the power it needs to work out everything it has. So after turning it to 110 it could work out everything just fine.
