October 21st, 2013

Hey there…is it possible to transfer the documents i have on my hardrive from my Desktop computer that is actually broken the computer wont open anymore this is why i bought a laptop.. but i want to keep everything on that hardrive :/ is there a way to plug it to the laptop so i can transfer everything?
Answer #1
Buy a dock for it.
Answer #2
You can get a USB or Firewire external enclosure, more permanent than a dock. If it’s just for a one off transfer, you can get cables to do it much cheaper than a dock.
Answer #3
oh okay cool this is what i thout but i wasn’t sure! is that expensive?
Answer #4
Which option did you want to go for ?
What type of hard drive is it (PATA (IDE) or SATA), and what country and I’ll give you a rough idea ?
Answer #5
Im in canada and on the hardrive it says SATA and i think the USB way is easier..
Answer #6
I think TigerDirect is cheap for Canada,? Not too sure though as I am in UK, but something like this would do you
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3950007&Sku=T13-5026
ps – all the 3 options above would be via USB (except the firewire obviously)

I dunno, go and have a look for a 3.5″ SATA external hard drive enclosure there. Not sure how big your hard drive is capacity wise, but if it’s large eg 1TB check to make sure the enclosure will support it.

Answer #10
