Critical PC failure,HELP!
November 22nd, 2013
i am typing this from my PS3 which might give an idea how critical the problem is. yesterday, out of nowhere,my pc gave up on me
the night before i paused a video i was watching and fell asleep, the next morning the pc started to go wrong, when i restarted it would get stuck for at least15 minutes at the ‘starting windows’ screen, so i pressed the restart button , then after 5 minutes of black screen ii would enter the WINDOWS ERROR RECOVERY screen in DOS screen, i can choose LAUNCH STARTUP RECOVERY or START WINDOWS NORMALLY. i tried both, the 1st option simply doesnt work, it would just get stuck on the recovering bar FOREVER. the 2nd option, after LITERALLY 2 hours of loading it once finally loaded into windows, but everything came on REALLY REALLY REALLY SLOW , the wallpaper is still there but everything on the desktop is gone except recycle bin. and when i clicked the START MENU it LITERALLY took 5 minutes to respond and everything is gone , i cant get into MY COMPUTER or any Explorer windows. it is a COMPLETE FAILURE, i cannot do ANYTHING on it at all,
any idea WTF is going on? any chance i can recover without losing everything on the HDD?
HELP!!
I think you better take it to a technician instead of asking here??

Did you try ctrl+alt+del and accessing explorer.exe through task manager?

no, coz like i said i hv only got into windows once coz it took 2 hours to load, and i get the feeling even if i did what u said i simply would get no response, its like the pc has been paralysed
try the basics like taking out some peripherals and doing a minimal boot but i don’t think that is the fix. Another thing you could do is take your hard drive out, put it in another pc and run chkdsk and virus scan. Also unplug the power and then turn on the power button to drain the energy out of the tower.
Besides getting into windows, does you pc boot as normal until it gets to the loading screen? it could be your ram too…. if you have more then one stick of ram, take it out and boot up (as long as you have enough memory for the OS).
format your c: drive (remove your old OS) and reinstall a new fresh copy that should fix it also scan your computer with an updated antivirus.
how is safemode? hit F8 repeatedly after the BIOS starts booting the OS

it boots normally for the first few seconds, i.e I can get into BIOS ,but after that it starts to go wrong.
speaking of ram, yeah i would describe the pc is behaving as if it has got no ram.
i know little abt computer but managed to build a pc myself with the help of google 2 years ago. i recently added a 2GB stick DDR3, dimension-wise, it is half the height of the stick i had installed 2 years ago even though they have the same model number, i assume they are the same thing only new technology means rams are now smaller than before, right?
could this be the cause?

i tried to boot the XP disc but the disc is faulty
>please dont move this to helpdesk since i am desperate and urgent for some help
If you’re urgent for help, posting in the helpdesk will be your best bet.
Back on topic, try entering the boot selection (tap F8, F11 or F12 when it’s starting up) and select “safe mode with networking”.
If that works, then it’s a software problem, and not a hardware problem, and can be solved by formatting or running tools in safe mode.
If that doesn’t work, then it’s most likely a hardware issue and will need to be fixed physically.

Technicians usually are able to diagnose the problem for free, and give you a quote if you want it fixed.
So what were you saying?
