Create a new ext 2 partition

July 26th, 2016

Hello, I want to create a new partition that I’ll install legacy Os on it(from Linux)
But I must create a new formatted partition in ext2
I tried Gparted but it is verryyy heavy cause my pc Is an old one P3 256MB
Someone know a good software that will let me create a new partition from windows not from boot mode ??
My current Os is XP
Thank you so much

Answer #1
Acronis Disk Director
Popular disk management and easy to use..
Answer #2
Acronis is good, I have used on a XP pc, Easeus Partion Manager without issue in the past, so should work as well
Answer #3
As mentioned above, I also use Acronis Disk Director. Get the bootable and burn to disk.
When you boot up, launch from bootable disk and you can make your partition
and stay out of windows. When task is complete, reboot. Then you are done.

Gparted very heavy lmao just use an earlier version. Also it has console mode, doesn’t get any lighter than this, I have used it several times at PCs like yours without problems, also if you are trying to dual-boot it won’t work well like this, you also need swap space at the beginning of your disk. I would just ditch xp altogether or create dual-boot from scratch.

I already mentioned why, you need a swap partition also especially if you have such low RAM. “From scratch” I mean wipe your hard drive and recreate partitions, note you are going to lose data this way, keep backup.
